Lin TL, et al. - A total of 22,891 subjects were studied from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Database during the period 2000-2013 to assess the risk of skin cancer in psoriatic cases with skin phototypes III-V receiving narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy. They compared the incidence of skin cancers receiving less than 90 UVB treatments (S-cohort) and age- as well as propensity score-matched candidates receiving more than/equal to 90 UVB treatments (L-cohort). They observed a lower prevalence of actinic keratosis in S-cohort. Overall, during the follow-up periods, they found no significant variations in the cumulative incidence of skin cancers between the 2 cohorts.
