Frailty and comorbidity predict first hospitalisation after heart failure diagnosis in primary care: Population-based observational study in England
Age and Aging Jan 12, 2019
Bottle A, et al. - In this observational study, the authors analyzed 6,360 adult individuals in primary care between 2010 and 2013 to assess the predicting factors for the first hospitalization after diagnosis of heart failure (HF) in England. They noted age, comorbidity, frailty, prior admission, not taking a beta-blocker, low hematocrit and living alone were the main predictors of all-cause admission. Among them, advanced age, raised serum creatinine and no use of beta-blockers were observed as the main predictors of HF admission. They considered frailty as the most predictive factor; it’s impact was greatest in subjects under 85 years of age.
