Substituting sedentary time with physical activity in fibromyalgia and the association with quality of life and impact of the disease: The al-Andalus project

Arthritis Care & Research Jan 10, 2019

Gavilan-Carrera B, et al. - Authors evaluated 407 females with fibromyalgia to explore the association of substitution of sedentary time (ST) with light physical activity (LPA) or moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) with the quality of life and disease consequence. They measured the time spent in ST and PA with triaxial accelerometry and estimated the disease impact and quality of life using the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire and the Short Form 36 health surveys, respectively. They observed the better quality of life and lower disease impact (eg, bodily pain, vitality, and social functioning) after replacing 30 minutes of ST with LPA in females with fibromyalgia.
