Kruse LL, et al. – In this case-control study, experts evaluated the prevalence of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children with atopic dermatitis (AD). Study participants included 17 children aged 6-17 years with moderate/severe AD and 18 age-/sex-matched healthy control participants. Of these children, two met screening criteria for ADHD upon Vanderbilt assessment. The investigators did not observe a significantly increased prevalence of ADHD in this AD cohort. Compared with control participants, however, they found that certain neurocognitive symptoms were increased in children with moderate-to-severe AD.
