Effect of serum triglyceride level on the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma in the absence of cirrhosis

Lipids in Health and Disease Nov 13, 2018

Liu X, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers evaluated the relationship between serum lipid and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the absence of cirrhosis by analyzing data of 2,528 patients with HCC at the Beijing Ditan Hospital between February 2008 and December 2017. According to results of the logistics regression analysis performed, patients with HCC without cirrhosis were more likely to have elevated triglyceride (TG) levels vs patients with HCC and cirrhosis. In the absence of cirrhosis, serum TG level might be an independent factor to forecast the prognosis of patients with HCC. Findings suggested that some appropriate treatments might be applied to adjust lipids to normal or high levels.
