High expression of ovarian cancer immunoreactive antigen domain containing 2 (OCIAD2) is associated with poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

Pathology International Oct 19, 2018

Sakashita M, et al. - Authors gauged the clinicopathological impacts of ovarian cancer immunoreactive antigen domain containing 2 (OCIAD2) in lung adenocarcinoma. They examined 191 surgically resected lung adenocarcinomas using immunohistochemistry. Vascular invasion, lymphatic permeation, T factor, and pathological stage were all significantly correlated with high OCIAD2 protein expression. Significantly higher OCIAD2 expression was demonstrated by invasive adenocarcinomas among small adenocarcinomas measuring 2 cm or less in greatest dimension classified according to the Noguchi's classification vs non-invasive adenocarcinomas. Interestingly, even within a tumor, OCIAD2 was expressed heterogeneously and higher expression was seen in the areas of invasion vs areas of in situ spread. As per data, a useful prognostic biomarker of lung adenocarcinoma could be OCIAD2.
