A multicentre, randomized controlled trial of telehealth for the management of COPD
Respiratory Medicine Oct 18, 2018
Soriano JB, et al. - Researchers performed this PROMETE II, a multicenter, randomized, 12-month trial to determine the role of telehealth (TH) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) management. For this investigation, they randomized 229 patients with severe COPD in stable condition to a specific monitoring protocol with TH or routine clinical practice (RCP). Compared with RCP within 12 months, remote patient management did not decrease COPD-related emergency room visits or hospital admissions. Telehealth was evaluated highly positively by both patients and doctors.
