The effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen in patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss: A systematic review
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Oct 18, 2018
Eryigit B, et al. - In treating of patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL), researchers assessed the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen. They identified various clinical trials on the treatment of ISSHL. Findings did not demonstrate any significant difference between the intervention and control group on the whole group of ISSHL patients. Nonetheless, in the intervention group, they observed a significant benefit in severe or profound hearing-impaired ISSHL patients. Findings suggested that in cases of severe and profound hearing impairment, the addition of hyperbaric oxygen to steroid therapies might be beneficial.
