Identification of genes and analysis of prognostic values in nonsmoking females with non-small cell lung carcinoma by bioinformatics analyses

Yang GD, et al. - Researchers assessed disease-related genes and their prognostic significance in non-smoking females with non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). They downloaded gene expression profile GSE19804 from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and analyzed using GEO2R. Screening was performed of a cohort of 699 differentially expressed genes. These were noted to be mainly enriched in the terms of ECM–receptor interaction, focal adhesion, and cell adhesion molecules. Findings suggested a potentially important role of the cell cycle pathway in non-smoking females with NSCLC. The authors recommended that the nine hub genes should be further explored as potential targets for NSCLC diagnosis and treatment.
