Asamoah-Boaheng M, et al. – Researchers investigated the links between prior history of asthma and later development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Of the 1,260 relevant articles obtained through a search of PubMed, CINAHL, and Embase regarding studies related to prior history of asthma and COPD diagnosis, 16 were included in this study (qualitative review: 9, meta-analysis: 7). Findings suggested an increasing likelihood of developing COPD in later life among individuals with previous history of asthma.
