Difference in the seminal plasma protein expression in unexplained infertile men with successful and unsuccessful in vitro fertilisation outcome
Andrologia Oct 05, 2018
Kanannejad Z, et al. - In men with unexplained infertility with female partners had undergone in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, researchers conducted a comparative proteomics study of seminal plasma (SP) to find differences in the SP protein profile. They noted an overexpression of at least two different protein spots, including clusterin and epididymal secretory protein E1, while in the successful group vs the unsuccessful group, prostate-specific antigen was downregulated. These proteins may have value as new candidate biomarkers for the success of IVF in unexplained male infertility (UMI) couples, considering the role of all three identified proteins in sperm quality.
