Tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 8 expression as a predictor of prognosis and resistance in patients with advanced ovarian cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Human Pathology Aug 16, 2018

Wang J, et al. - In ovarian cancers (OCs) treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT), researchers examined the association of tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 8 (TNFAIP8) with platinum resistance. Results revealed that TNFAIP8 knockdown antagonized the proliferation of the tumor cells by arresting the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase and increased cisplatin-induced chemoresistance by interacting with autophagy-related proteins (Beclin 1 and LC II). It was noted that decreased TNFAIP8 expression correlated positively with response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Findings suggested that the extent of decrease in TNFAIP8 expression may be a biomarker anticipating NACT resistance and may be a therapeutic target for OC treatment.
