Association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and subclinical atherosclerosis: A cross-sectional study on population over 40 years old

BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Jul 21, 2018

Zheng J, et al. - Researchers explored the association of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with subclinical atherosclerosis in a cross-sectional study among Chinese adults over 40 years derived from a Kailuan community-based prospective study from June 2010 to June 2011. Using multivariate logistic regression, they assessed the associations of NAFLD with subclinical atherosclerosis evaluated by carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) or brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV). A remarkable correlation of NAFLD with subclinical atherosclerosis was observed. In the planning and development of the preventive strategies for cardiovascular diseases, this correlation must be considered.
