Prevalence and risk factors of MRSA colonisations: A cross-sectional study among personnel in outpatient care settings in Hamburg, Germany
BMJ Open Jul 20, 2018
Peters C, et al. - This cross-sectional study of employees in outpatient care facilities in Hamburg was conducted from June 2015 to March 2016 to investigate methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonization among outpatient nursing staff. For this investigation, researchers compared the occupational MRSA exposure and risk factors with the situation for inpatient geriatric care personnel. Researchers, for the first time, described the occupational MRSA risk of outpatient care personnel in Hamburg. According to the findings obtained, the MRSA prevalence was low and presented a good basis for defining the MRSA risk of occupational exposure by health personnel in outpatient care.
