A retrospective cross-sectional survey of non-specific lower back pain among a cohort of Chinese army soldiers

Wei G, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the prevalence of nonspecific lower back pain (LBP) and its risk factors among soldiers in the Chinese army. Using a self-administered questionnaire, they obtained information on demographic, anthropometric factors, and non-specific LBP symptoms of a total of 2876 Chinese army soldiers. Based on the self-questionnaire survey, the LBP evaluation and risk factor analysis were carried out. The factors that were found to play an important role in the occurrence and persistence of LBP included smoking, history of LBP, LBP family history, nightmare frequency, sleep quality, self-perceived fitness.
