Temporal associations between sexual function and cognitive function in community-dwelling older men: The Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project
Age and Aging Jun 14, 2018
Hsu B, et al. - Researchers explored the temporal associations between sexual function and cognitive function in community-dwelling men aged 70+ from the Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project. They found in unadjusted models that there was a statistically significant correlation between declines in erectile function and sexual activity over time and a decline in mini-mental state examination (MMSE) over time. The links remained unchanged even after adjusting for a range of covariables. No association of declines in sexual satisfaction and sexual desire over time with changes in MMSE was found. Overall, a longitudinal temporal association between sexual activity and cognitive function was supported by the evidence.
