Cardiac vs non-cardiac related mortality following percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes mellitus: A meta-analysis
Diabetes Therapy May 24, 2018
Wang Q, et al. - A meta-analysis was conducted to compare cardiac and non-cardiac-related mortality following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in a sample of patients with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes mellitus (ITDM). Using RevMan version 5.3 software, the analysis was carried out and data were reported with odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) as the main parameters. In patients with ITDM who had undergone PCI, mortality due to cardiac causes was significantly higher than that due to non-cardiac causes. They suggested that the same conclusion was reached when different lengths of follow-up periods were assessed, when different data sets were used, and when types of coronary stents which were implanted were assessed.
