A randomized controlled trial evaluating sildenafil citrate in relieving ureteral stent-related symptoms
World Journal of Urology May 19, 2018
Tharwat M, et al. - Researchers assessed the role of sildenafil in relieving ureteral stent symptoms. They conducted a randomized controlled trial between March 2014 and November 2016 including adult men who underwent unilateral ureteric stent after ureteroscopy. Using sealed closed envelope, eligible patients were randomized to one of 2 groups (S and C). Significantly lower total ureteral stent symptom questionnaire (USSQ) score and all domains (except work performance) was seen in group S. In group C, dysuria and urgency were significantly more. Sildenafil is an effective and well-tolerated treatment option for relieving ureteral stent-related symptoms in men.
