Cataract frequency and subtypes involved in workers assessed for their solar radiation exposure: A systematic review
Acta Ophthalmologica Apr 22, 2018
Modenese A, et al. - Experts systematically reviewed scientific literature from the last 20 years for updating the recent development of research on the risk of cataract in outdoor workers and on the specific subtypes involved. They also investigated the methods applied to evaluate the occupational risk. Findings suggested that long-term occupational solar radiation exposure was related to cortical cataract and gave new support for nuclear cataract. Nonetheless, to support an asociation with the posterior subcapsular subtype, no substantial new data were available.
