Association of hemoglobin A1C and wound healing in diabetic foot ulcers
Diabetes Care Apr 21, 2018
Fesseha BK, et al. - This study examined the tie-up between hemoglobin A1c (A1C) and wound outcomes in patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) treated at an academic institution during a 4.7-year period. No clinically significant correlation was discovered between baseline or prospective A1C and wound healing in patients with DFUs. It was determined that compared with a nadir A1C change from baseline of -0.29 to 0.0, a nadir A1C change of 0.09 to 2.4 illustrated a connection with long-term wound healing in the subset of candidates with baseline A1C <7.5%.
