Medical comorbidities in patients with lichen planopilaris, a retrospective case–control study

International Journal of Dermatology Apr 20, 2018

Fertig RM, et al. - Researchers evaluated the prevalence of medical comorbidities in patients with classic lichen planopilaris (CLPP) and frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA). They retrospectively reviewed the medical records of LPP patients and control patients for existing comorbidities. The prevalence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was higher in the female patients with FFA. Experts noted a less likeliness of patients with LPP (including CLPP and the FFA subtype) to have diabetes. Hypertension, heart disease, and hypothyroidism were less likely to be seen in the patients with CLPP excluding FFA.
