Zhu Y, et al. - Researchers compared the effectiveness of vapocoolant spray and placebo spray/no treatment for pain reduction during intravenous cannulation in this meta-analysis. Findings suggested a significant reduction in pain during intravenous cannulation with vapocoolant spray when compared with placebo spray or no treatment in both adults and children. Furthermore, vapocoolant spray was observed significantly increasing the technical ease of the attempt and participants' satisfaction. The use of vapocoolant spray during intravenous cannulation was thus recommended to decrease pain.
