Outcomes of ureteroscopic stone treatment in spinal cord injury patients

Morhardt DR, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the relationship of clinical factors on outcomes in spinal cord injury (SCI) patients who underwent ureteroscopic stone treatment. Results suggested an association of higher injury level and complete SCI with worse stone clearance and more complications. They noted the stone-free rate (SFR) to be 17%. Overall, in this population, flexible ureteroscopy was a relatively safe procedure. After failed ureteroscopy, alternative strategies ought to be considered.
