Keshtkar-Jahromi M, et al. - Researchers here investigated the effect of influenza vaccine on TWEAK levels in older adults. As per findings, influenza vaccine reduced TWEAK levels in older adults. Antibody responses to vaccine strains and frailty were seemed to be associated with this. The findings thereby suggest suppression of TWEAK/Fn14(fibroblast growth factor-inducible 14) pathway as a potential mechanism. This might mediate beneficial effects of influenza vaccine against cardiovascular disease.
