Return to work following robot-assisted laparoscopic and open retropubic radical prostatectomy: A single-center cohort study to compare duration of sick leave

Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Mar 28, 2018

von Mechow S, et al. - Experts aimed to draw a comparison in the duration of sick leave in patients with localized prostate cancer following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and open retropubic radical prostatectomy (ORP) at a German high-volume prostate cancer center. As no influence of the surgical approach was seen on the number of days missed from work in patients who underwent radical prostatectomy (RP), no superiority of either RARP or ORP could be identified for return to work time. Findings suggested that both the surgical approaches were safe options and after an appropriate convalescence period, allowed the patients to resume normal activities including work.
