affron, a standardised extract from saffron (Crocus sativus L.) for the treatment of youth anxiety and depressive symptoms: A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study

Journal of Affective Disorders Mar 16, 2018

Lopresti AL, et al. - Authors, in this work, examined mood-related effects of saffron in teenagers with mild-to-moderate anxiety or depressive symptoms. The administration of a standardised saffron extract (affron) for 8 weeks resulted in improvement in anxiety and depressive symptoms among these individuals. These beneficial effects were, however, inconsistently corroborated by parents. affron was well-tolerated and there was a trend of reduced headaches in participants on the active treatment.
