A brief exposure-based treatment vs cognitive processing therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder: A randomized noninferiority clinical trial

JAMA Psychiatry Jan 22, 2018

Sloan DM, et al. - The researchers aimed to determine whether written exposure therapy (WET) was noninferior to cognitive processing therapy (CPT) in patients with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). WET involved fewer sessions, despite this, it was noninferior to CPT in reducing symptoms of PTSD. WET was found to be an efficacious and efficient PTSD treatment that could reduce attrition and transcend previously observed barriers to PTSD treatment for both patients and providers.
