Hernandez N, et al. - This research was designed in order to investigate if the cessation of renal colic was consistent with an expelled ureteral stone or whether imaging could be recommended even in the absence of symptoms. A link was revealed between the cessation of pain with the passage of ureteral stone in approximately 75% of the enrollees. Nevertheless, 26% of patients presented with persistent ureteral stones. Routine follow up imaging was indicated in all patients with ureteral stones with the intention of documenting the stone passage and to avoid the risks of silent ureteral obstruction.
