Testosterone therapy preserves muscle strength and power in aging men with type 2 diabetes - A randomized controlled trial

Journal of Andrology Sep 20, 2017

Magnussen LV, et al. - This research investigated if testosterone replacement therapy improved the muscle mechanical and physical function along with the increasing lean leg mass and total lean body mass in aging men with type 2 diabetes and lowered bio-available testosterone (BioT) levels. The findings revealed the preservation of knee extensor muscle mechanical function. A marked improvement was noted in the body composition during testosterone replacement therapy for 24 weeks compared with placebo. In contrast, the physical function (gait speed) was unchanged in aging men with type 2 diabetes and lowered BioT levels.
