5-alpha-reductase inhibitor treatment for frontal fibrosing alopecia: An evidence-based treatment update

Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Jun 17, 2018

Murad A, et al. - Experts conducted an evidence-based analysis of articles published on treatment efficacy and safety of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor for the treatment of frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA). As per the findings, either disease stability or reduction in the rate of progression could be achieved by FFA patients treated with 5ARI. In one grade 2 and three lower grade studies, mild to moderate hair regrowth was reported. In most of the analyzed studies, limited evidence regarding the safety aspects of this medication was noted.
