Prognostic value of bone- and vascular-derived molecular biomarkers in hemodialysis and renal transplant patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation | Sep 13, 2017
Pichler G, et al. - In order to summarize the available evidence on the association of molecular biomarkers with mortality in individuals undergoing hemodialysis and renal transplant patients, experts wished to regulate a systematic review and meta-analysis. Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) was a predictor of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, in hemodialysis patients. On the other hand, the predictive value of osteoprotegerin (OPG) was restricted to cardiovascular mortality. These outcomes called for the future investigation to gain insight into the prognostic value of these biomarkers in renal transplant recipients.
