The mechanism of thoracolumbar burst fracture may be related to the basivertebral foramen

Zhang X et al. – This study explained the relation between retropulsed bone fragments (RBF) and basivertebral foramen (BF) in thoracolumbar burst fracture and described the results using biomechanical experiments and microcomputed tomography (CT). The authors concluded that the most susceptible areas in the vertebral region are within or just above the BF, and the central MR2 region is particularly at risk of fracture and RBF formation.
