Universal point-of-care testing for lynch syndrome in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma

The Journal of Urology Aug 14, 2017

Metcalfe MJ, et al. – In this study, patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma, universal point–of–care testing was assessed. They distinguished 13.9% of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) cases as potential Lynch syndrome (pLS) and 5.2% with confirmed Lynch syndrome (LS) at the point–of–care (POC). These outcomes have important implications for universal screening of UTUC, representing one of the highest rates of undiagnosed genetic disease in a urologic cancer.
