Sutradhar R, et al. – In this study, cancer survivors were compared with matched controls without a prior diagnosis of cancer, for differences in opioid prescribing rates in a predominantly socio–economically disadvantaged population. Even long after attaining survivorship, cancer survivors displayed substantially higher opioid prescribing rates. This outcome emphasised concerns about the diagnosis and management of chronic pain problems among survivors stemming from their cancer diagnosis or treatment.
