The clinical spectrum of COVID-19-associated cutaneous manifestations: An Italian multicentre study of 200 adult patients

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jan 21, 2021

Marzano AV, Genovese G, Moltrasio C, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to identify the clinical characteristics of skin manifestations associated with COVID-19 and to investigate the connections between the six main cutaneous phenotypes and systemic findings. Twenty-one Italian Dermatology Units were requested to obtain demographic, clinical and histopathological data from 200 patients with skin manifestations associated with COVID-19. After adjusting for age, in patients with COVID-19-related skin manifestations, there was no clear-cut spectrum of COVID-19 severity, while chilblain-like acral lesions were more prevalent in younger patients with asymptomatic/paucisymptomatic COVID-19.
