COVID-19 within a large prison with high number of vulnerable adults in the UK, March to June 2020: An outbreak investigation and screening event
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Jan 20, 2021
Wilburn J, Blakey E, Trindall A, et al. - Researchers aimed at reporting the public health response to COVID-19 within a large prison with a high number of clinically vulnerable residents. They performed an outbreak investigation among all residents and staff. COVID-19 symptoms were displayed by 58 residents out of 1,156 and 129 staff out of 510, including six and eight confirmed, respectively. Most of the residents who exhibited symptoms were in the high-risk category (62.1%). Wings I and L had most of the symptomatic residents and staff. No positive cases of COVID-19 were identified with a universal screening event in the prison. Per outcomes, a multi-agency response can quickly contain COVID-19 outbreaks in prisons.
