Xing M, Liang X, Li L, et al. - In this systematic review and meta‐analysis, researchers compared the analgesic effectiveness of caudal vs intravenous α₂ adrenoceptor agonists during pediatric caudal block. Following the PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search, data extraction, bias risk assessment, and pooled data analysis were conducted. All randomized controlled trials contrasting caudal with intravenous α₂ adrenoceptor agonists in pediatric caudal block have been involved. In total, 244 patients in five trials have been identified. During pediatric caudal block, caudal α₂ adrenoceptor agonists as adjuncts to local anesthetic are more effective than intravenous injection. However, the limited sample size and significant heterogeneity also influenced the outcomes.
