The combination of CC chemokine receptor type 5(CCR5) and Treg cells predicts prognosis in patients with ischemic stroke

Journal of Neuroimmunology Sep 28, 2020

Zhang J, Liu G, Chen D, et al. - Researchers focused on the impact of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and CCR5+ Tregs on the prognosis of ischemic stroke. For this purpose, blood samples from patients were analyzed to measure Tregs and CCR5+ Tregs. They found higher Tregs in patients suffering from severe ischemic stroke vs those in mild ischemic stroke, while the expression of CCR5+ Tregs were reversed. A good predictive impact of Tregs and CCR5+ Tregs on the prognosis of ischemic stroke was revealed in the univariate and multivariate logistics regression analysis. By ROC curve, a better prediction impact was achieved by the combination of Tregs and CCR+ Tregs. Based on these data, experts suggested the utility of the combination of Tregs and CCR5+ Tregs as biomarkers for the prognosis of ischemic stroke.
