Pixel CO2 laser for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence: A prospective observational multicenter study

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine Sep 14, 2020

Franić D, Fistonić I, Franić‐Ivanišević M, et al. - Via this prospective two‐center study, researchers investigated the efficacy of fractional‐pixel CO2 laser for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Intravaginal treatment with Pixel‐CO2 laser was provided to 85 women with SUI symptoms as per the cough stress test and validated International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire—Urinary Incontinence Short Form (ICIQ‐UI‐SF). At baseline, the ICIQ‐UI‐SF score was 12.0; it improved to 7.0, after the first treatment, and 3.5 after the second treatment. The ICIQ‐UI‐SF score was 9.0 at the baseline for women with BMI (25.0–29.9); it improved to 6.0 after 1 month, and 5.0 at the 6 months follow‐up visit. Findings suggest fractional‐pixel CO2 laser as safe and effective treatment for SUI. There were no adverse event or significant pain during or after the procedure. This study clearly demonstrates its safety and efficacy.
