Association of clinical predictors with recurrence of atrial fibrillation after catheter ablation
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Jul 09, 2020
Li A, Chen Y, Wang W, et al. - This retrospective analysis was performed to determine the factors that confer risk for recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients undergoing radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA). This study included 257 patients suffering from AF who had RFCA preceded by transthoracic echocardiographic and pulmonary vein CT examination. At baseline, 1, 3, 6 months, and 1 year post-RFCA, electrocardiogram evaluation was done. The patients were split into two groups depending on AF recurrence: recurrence group (n = 79) and nonrecurrence group (n = 178). On multivariate logistic regression, an independent correlation of AF duration, pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C), with AF recurrence was identified. Overall, experts suggest atrial fibrillation duration, PAH, and LDL‐C as the possible independent risk factors for AF recurrence post-RFCA.
