Musi G, Cozzi G, Mistretta FA, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to determine the incidence of prosthesis‐related complications in patients who received a testicular prosthesis for testicular cancer at the time of radical orchiectomy and were then treated with chemotherapy (ChT) or radiotherapy (RT). They analyzed the records of the patients who had radical orchiectomy at the Institute since 1999. In addition, they retrieved data from patients who had surgery elsewhere and then received ChT or RT at the Institution since 1999. One hundred thirty‐eight individuals received ChT, 129 RT and 10 both ChT and RT and 6, 8 and 0 of them reported problems respectively. There was no major difference in the incidence of complications for patients who had no further treatment relative to patients who had ChT or RT. Overall, the authors concluded that even in patients subsequently undergoing ChT or RT, testicular prosthesis insertion at the time of radical orchiectomy is secure.
