Assessment of postoperative pseudophakic glaucoma by ultrasound biomicroscopy

Clinical Ophthalmology Jun 28, 2020

Ragab IT, Abdelkader AME, Kishk HM, et al. - In this case series, prospective, observational and analytical study, researchers sought to assess the role of ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in evaluating postoperative pseudophakic glaucoma. Participants in the study were 29 patients (29 eyes) with postoperative pseudophakic glaucoma. Study participants were assessed by medical history, detailed ophthalmologic examination and UBM. According to results, UBM examination has unmasked various pseudophakic glaucoma causes. The observed causes have been divided into three major categories, namely causes linked to the intraocular lens, lens remnants and intraocular inflammation. UBM is a useful diagnostic tool for assessing causes of pseudophakic glaucoma through adequate visualization of various angle structures.
