Systematic review and meta-analysis comparing Adjustable Transobturator Male System (ATOMS) and male Readjustment Mechanical External (REMEEX) system for post-prostatectomy incontinence
World Journal of Urology Jun 15, 2020
Angulo JC, Ruiz S, Lozano M, et al. - In the present study, the researchers tested the safety and effectiveness of Adjustable Transobturator Male System (ATOMS) compared with male Readjustment Mechanical External (REMEEX) system for post-prostatectomy incontinence (PPI). A systematic review and meta-analysis is presented on adjustable device ATOMS compared with male REMEEX. Female or neurogenic incontinence studies have been ruled out. Combined results from 29 observational studies of 1,919 patients revealed an equivalent proportion of radical prostatectomy-treated patients and prior radiation. Data reported that dryness rate was 69.3% for ATOMS and 53.4% for male REEMEX and improvement rate was 90.8% for ATOMS and 80.2% for REMEEX. Despite the absence of direct comparison and the constraints observed, ATOMS appears to be more effective in treating PPI than male REMEEX, and with less explant rate as reported in the literature.
