Sun H, et al. - By retrospectively studying data from neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) patients with hyperCKemia, researchers determined the incidence of hyperCKemia in patients with NMOSD and explored the clinical features of these patients. The acute phase of the disease was accompanied by elevated CK ( creatine kinase) levels in 19 patients with seropositive aquaporin–4 antibodies. The MRI findings presented as myositis alterations. Post-methylprednisolone treatment, a decrease in all CK levels to the normal range was noted. It was concluded that transient hyperCKemia might represent a characteristic of NMOSD patients in the acute phase, more attention is advised.
