Smooth muscle hyperplasia of the testicular adnexa: a clinicopathologic study of 12 cases
Human Pathology Mar 28, 2020
Alruwaii F, et al. - Since smooth muscle hyperplasia of the testicular adnexa is a rare mass-forming intrascrotal lesion, researchers designed a clinicopathologic study to present smooth muscle hyperplasia of the testicular adnexa (SMH-TA). They determined 12 SMH-TA cases in the institutional records between 2005 and 2019. The morphologic features were examined and clinical information was collected from physicians’ notes. The study found that smooth muscle hyperplasia of the testicular adnexa is a rare benign entity that can present clinically as orchialgia and/or a suspicious intrascrotal mass. As implied in previous studies, the study admitted that this lesion represents a reactive process.
