Seminal plasma vitamin B6 levels in men with asthenozoospermia and men with normal sperm motility, a measurement using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry
Andrologia Mar 11, 2020
Ali Banihani S, et al. - this study seeks to identify the level of seminal plasma vitamin B6 in men with asthenozoospermia compared with men with normal sperm motility. Researchers included a total of 97 human males with asthenozoospermia and eighty-eight human males with normal sperm motility (control). They evaluated collected semen samples for sperm motility, sperm count and semen volume. Liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry was applied to test seminal plasma vitamin B6 concentrations. The study found that men with asthenozoospermia have lower seminal plasma vitamin B6 levels compared with men with normal sperm motility. Furthermore, in both tested groups, seminal plasma vitamin B6 was found not to be associated with sperm motility and count, semen volume and men age. These outcomes may give a new contribution to the management of male infertility.
