Clinicopathological characteristics of glomeruloid architecture in prostate cancer

Modern Pathology Feb 28, 2020

Hollemans E, Verhoef EI, Bangma CH, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate clinicopathological features of glomeruloid architecture in radical prostatectomies. Researchers examined a total of 1,064 radical prostatectomy specimens and reported Grade Group, pT-stage, margin status, Gleason pattern percentages, and growth patterns. Gland size and intraluminal cribriform protrusions identified simple and complex glomerulations. Both simple and complex glomeruloid architecture were correlated with better outcomes than cribriform architecture in Grade Group 2 prostate cancer patients. Hence, glomeruloid pattern and especially complex glomerulations should not be categorized as a cribriform growth pattern variant in radical prostatectomy specimens.
