Treatment preferences of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia before and after using a web-based decision aid
Urology Jan 31, 2020
Lamers RED, van der Wijden FC, de Angst IB, et al. - Researchers intended to assess treatment preferences of individuals with lower urinary tract symptoms suggestive of benign prostatic hyperplasia (LUTS/BPH) before and after using a web-based decision aid (DA). Individuals were invited to use a web-based LUTS/BPH DA between July 2016 and January 2017. In the analysis, they included a sum of 126 individuals. They obtained treatment preferences (for lifestyle advice, medication or surgery) before and after DA use and responses on values clarification exercises from the DA. The data demonstrated that a LUTS/BPH DA may benefit individuals to confirm their initial treatment preference and support them in establishing a treatment preference whether they did not have an initial preference.
