Optimizing opioid pain medication use after vasectomy— A prospective study

Baker BH, et al. - In this study, experts prospectively consented individuals undergone vasectomies in order to balance individuals' pain requirements against the risk of narcotic abuse. A total of 76 people enrolled in this research. All individuals got hydrooxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325 mg tablets and Ibuprofen 800 mg tablets. Selected individuals were contacted by phone 1-3 weeks later their procedure with a follow-up questionnaire. Utilizing Pearson association, younger age was notable related to a number of pills utilized. It was found that opioid medication usage following vasectomy was variable though associated with age. Clinicians shall weigh the necessity than potential abuse to discover the amount of tablets they were easy prescribing. Moreover, counseling and documentation on proper use and disposal of opioid medication was robustly encouraged.
