Clinical and radiographic outcomes of modified unilateral open-door laminoplasty with posterior muscle-ligament complex preservation for cervical spondylotic myelopathy

Spine Dec 14, 2019

Chen C, et al. - In this retrospective comparative study, 36 individuals with cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) underwent modified laminoplasty with posterior muscle-ligament complex preservation (modified group) and 27 people underwent traditional laminoplasty (control group) in order to assess the efficiency of modified unilateral open-door laminoplasty with posterior muscle-ligament complex preservation in treating CSM. For treating CSM with good recovery of neurological functions and satisfactory maintenance of cervical curvature and range of motion, modified unilateral open-door laminoplasty with posterior muscle-ligament complex preservation was discovered to be efficient. Moreover, in comparison with conventional open-door laminoplasty, it diminishes the incidence of postoperative axial symptoms.
